Kristin J. Davin, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor of Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she teaches world language and English as a Second Language methodology and assessment courses. Prior to her arrival at UNC Charlotte, she taught Spanish to kindergarten through fifth graders in Pittsburgh, earned a doctoral degree at the University of Pittsburgh, and taught for six years at Loyola University Chicago.

Dr. Davin's research focuses on language assessment and language teacher preparation. In 2016, she began to study the Seal of Biliteracy movement across the United States. Dr. Davin and Dr. Amy Heineke published a comparison of state policies in Foreign Language Annals in 2017 that is available at http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/flan.12279/abstract. Phase II of their research (shown here) focuses on how schools are implementing the Seal of Biliteracy.
